All CPEN Members
All current members of CPEN are invited to join "All-CPEN" conferences calls and business meetings (held at the annual conference).
These calls and meetings provide members with updates about the projects and accomplishments of the Cancer Patient Education Network and its committees.

Annual Meeting Planning Committee
The Annual Meeting provides a formal opportunity for the exchange of information among patient educators. This committee works on planning all aspects of the conference.

The 2007 Annual Meeting will be held October 10-13, 2007, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Please visit the Annual Meeting page for additional information.

Awards Committee
The NCI CPEN Awards Committee recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of cancer patient education by individuals, groups and organizations.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of CPEN, acts as liaison to allied organizations, and has the responsibility and authority to manage the affairs and property of CPEN.
To be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors, an individual must be an Active member of CPEN in good standing. Additionally, individuals must have one year of membership in CPEN, plus attendance at a minimum of one annual meeting, to be eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. Bylaws Committee
The Bylaws Committee reviews requests for changes to the Bylaws from CPEN members and identifies other updates that may be necessary.

Complementary and Alternative Medicine Committee
Compiled an annotated bibliography of CAM resources and completed an in-depth survey of CAM services at NCI Cancer Centers.

Electronic Communications Sub-Committee
This subcommittee of the Marketing Committee was formerly the Electronic Communications Committee (07/06). It developed the CPEN web site and is working on developing guidelines for posting items to the CPEN web site.

Guidelines Special Interest Group
Updates, disseminates, and supports implementation of the CPEN Guidelines for Establishing Comprehensive Cancer Patient Education Services.

Learning Resource Center Committee

The Learning Resource Center Committee works on issues related to the development and maintenance of Learning Resource Centers (LRC). The group has conducted a survey of learning center coordinators at CPEN institutions, developed resource sheets on FAQs related to the LRC, and developed a manual to assist with developing, organizing and managing a LRC.
Current projects include: creating reviews of recommended and/or new resources for Learning Resource Center collections, creating teleconference presentations on LRC topics, and developing a competency checklist for LRC volunteers.

Membership and Marketing Committee
The Membership and Marketing Committee works on issues related to the marketing and publicity of CPEN and helps familiarize new CPEN members with the network, its culture, and resources.

Pediatric Special Interest Group
The Pediatric Special Interest Group (SIG) identifies and explores issues specific to working with families affected by pediatric cancers.

Professional Development Committee
Coordinates and identifies professional development opportunities for CPEN members.

Research Committee
The Research Committee was established in 1998 and its goals and initiatives include providing opportunities for the professional development of cancer patient educators; providing a forum for research and evidence-based project collaboration; providing relevant resources, reference tools and best practice standards on cancer patient education programs and services; and encouraging collaboration and networking among professionals and organizations involved in cancer patient education. The committee meets the 4th Tuesday of each month, at 12:00 CT.

Survivorship Committee
This committee's focus is issues related to cancer survivorship.

Translation Committee
Translation Committee (Susan Scritchfield) Exploring to learn of common needs and resources for patient and caregiver education about cancer, treatment and related topics. Current goal is to identify and catalog useful translated patient/caregiver health education resources, and access CPEN members to this information via a link under Cancer Patient Educator Resources. We also support the further development of www.healthinfotranslation.org New members are welcome! Monthly conference call meetings are on 2nd Tuesdays, 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. Eastern time.
